New Patients

Man extending hand for handshakeBall Ground Upper Cervical Chiropractic is a comfortable, homelike place where your entire family will feel at ease. We’re located in the former clinic of Dr. Rebecca Ray, having transformed the space into a state-of-the-art healthcare facility.

The First Visit

We ask that you wear comfortable and loose-fitting clothing as well as leave any jewelry at home. Try your best to make sure that the clothing does not have any metal zips, buckles, buttons, or requires a belt. If applicable, please do not wear a bra with metal fastenings. This will help reduce delays in your appointment and remove any possible interference to the x-ray imaging.

When you arrive, you’ll be greeted and invited to fill out your new patient paperwork or collect the New Patient Forms if you printed and filled out the paperwork at home. Dr. Ryan will then take a detailed history to determine if the problems and symptoms you are dealing with are directly or indirectly related to spinal misalignment. If we are confident that our services can help you, we will accept your case and perform a thorough assessment including:

  • A physical examination including orthopedic and neurological testing
  • A chiropractic orthospinology evaluation that includes our 3-D imaging analysis
  • A report of findings that will discuss the quantitative analysis of your spinal misalignment and what needs to be done to correct it

Next, you’ll receive your initial correction via instrument assistance. The instrument assisted correction allows us to be gentle, precise, and repeatable without unnecessary twisting, popping or cracking. Instrument assistance also gives us the ability to deliver corrections that last and eliminates the burden of unnecessary care and subsequent health care costs.

After the initial correction, we will discuss what you can expect after having your spinal misalignment corrected and what the best strategy is to keep your spine corrected.

Duration: 1 hour and 15 minutes

Subsequent Visits

Duration: 10-15 minutes

After the initial correction, Dr. Ryan will see you within the next 3 to 5 days. The follow up visit is almost as important as the first. The second visit gives us information into the strength and stability of your spine. As you progress through care, you will need to be corrected and monitored periodically as your body strengthens and your misalignment stabilizes. As this process occurs you can expect the following:

  • Relief – Most patients experience some relief after the very first visit.
  • Recovery – This is dependent upon the complexity and severity of your misalignment. It is not the correction itself that gets your well but holding and maintaining your correction.

Dr. Ryan has also worked to partner with other healthcare providers within the surrounding communities. If at any time, he feels your condition is not responsive or may be better handled through another avenue of health care, he will work persistently to match you with the right provider.

Self-Management and Prevention

As you recover, you will become conscious of when you are in alignment and when you are not. Some patients know immediately or within a few days. It is important to build this awareness as taking care of your spine will help maintain proper structural integrity and lead to a better quality of life.

We have also found that patients who experience greater strength and stability with their corrections often have greater levels of health and fitness. These can include and are not limited to:

  • Rest
  • Relaxation & Stress management
  • Resistance training and cardiovascular exercise
  • Proper Nutrition and Caloric Intake
